iSNARK! 173

Listen below, or download here. (1:11:20/65.3 MB)

OOPS! I somehow managed to create the longest podcast episode in Christus Vincit/iSNARK! history, surpassing the 2007 Easter special by just about two minutes! That is basically because our What Did We Sing Today still came out longer than normal, and I even dropped several pieces I recorded! Oh well, try to enjoy anyways!
Anyhoo, today we talk about my new pet project, influenced by the book pictured at left, and A Living WHAT?!, a ranting on how one publisher killed a good, solid, Catholic classic!
Feasts for the Week:  July 4-17.
Commercials (the three usuals, scattered)
Don't Do This at Church (three, scattered)

Today we continue our comparisons of the two editions of GIA's Gather Comprehensive hymnal (1994 and 2004), by noting the good music that was in the 1994 book that was dropped from the 2004 book, and good music not in the 1994 book that was added for 2004.

Feasts for the week: May 26-June 1.

CV Semi-Live with the Bitmap: Wait till you hear this music list I was stuck with for Corpus Christi. Definitely not for the faint of heart!
Music: Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (tune: Picardy), performed by Fugli, brought to you by the Podsafe Music Network.
Shamus' Adventures in Classical Latin: Shamus wreckovates Ecce Panis Angelorum, brought to you by Snarkies.

Today we will talk about world-renowned Omer Westendorf, the founder of World Library Publications, and his own hymn contributions to English-speaking Catholic congregations.
Also: We have a winner from last week's trivia contest! Listen to hear who it was, and what the correct answer was!
Feasts for the week: June 11-17.  More info: New Advent Website.
Christus Vincit Semi-live in the living room: Hey, we're like, tired, ya know. We've been doing so much time at the softball field lately that it's become our second home. What's nice though is that Brittany made all-stars, so I'm as proud as a dad can be. But today, we go semi-live in the peace, quiet, comfort, and solace of our own living room, while we play and discuss our music for Corpus Christi. We had a Procession after the Saturday Mass as well.

Music:
1. Ave Verum Corpus (music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
2. O Salutaris Hostia (music by Anthony Werner)
3. Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All (tune: Sweet Sacrament)
4. Holy God, We Praise Thy Name (tune: Grosser Gott)
5. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus (tune: Hyfrydol)
6., 7. Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (tune: Picardy), two versions of this hymn appear: the first as arranged by Gustav Holst, sung by the Holy Ghost Choir, the other sung by Fugli, brought to you by Podsafe.

Commercials:  Wide Awake Podcast, iPadre Network, Disciples with Microphones
Hymnody in Inflationary Language: Alleluia! Sing to Jesus, courtesy of Realtors for God.

If you hear a few buzzes and hums during this show, that is because for the first time we recorded in an AIR CONDITIONED studio, uh, living room. ;)

Today we explore the hymn catalog of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
The show intro was done by some dude with a French accent.
